In connection to Hillsborough Reads, which encourages members of the community to spent one month reading about Florida’s past, Ross Lamoreaux from the Tampa Bay History Center will give an entertaining and informative presentation on the impact of the Civil War on the Tampa Bay area, with a focus on Fort Brooke and its troops.

A Land Remembered by Patrick D. Smith is our featured Hillsborough Reads selection for May 2011. Spanning more than one hundred years, the novel highlights Florida’s rich cultural heritage by following the fictional MacIvey family through the challenging wilderness and the developing Florida landscape.

Hillsborough Reads is a partnership program between the Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library and the Tampa Bay History Center. For more information about this and other FREE programs @ your library®, call (813) 273-3652 or visit www.hcplc.org.
