  • Name the Library Teen Space Contest. The number of teen rooms in Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Libraries is growing and we need your help naming them! These teen spaces need a name to be used in all public libraries that can help identify them as COOL places just for teens (students in grades 6 – 12). Library Services is soliciting help from teen visitors to name their space. Entries can be placed online at http://www.hcplc.org/hcplc/teens/space.html or by visiting any Hillsborough County public library by Oct. 15.

    Then the voting begins! Voting will take place online only, during TEEN READ WEEK, Oct.19-23. Voting will close Friday, October 23 at 9 a.m. Teens may vote more than once.

    The winning entry will be announced at the THRILL THE WORLD event, which will be held at the North Tampa Branch Library, 8916 North Boulevard on Oct. 24, 6:30 p.m. The winner will receive a $50 gift card and editorial credit for naming teen spaces in all Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Libraries!

    THRILL THE WORLD EVENT AT THE NORTH TAMPA BRANCH LIBRARY

  • Thrill the World is an attempt to break the world record for the largest simultaneous dance to Michael Jackson’s Thriller. Thousands from around the world will learn Thriller, and dance and perform it together. All ages are welcome to participate, and costumes are encouraged. Come early to learn the dance and be ready to thrill the world!

    Learn the dance online or at a special training event at the College Hill Branch Library, 2607 E. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., in Tampa, on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 2 p.m.
