NAUTILUS SUBMARINE PROGRAM AT THE UPPER TAMPA BAY REGIONAL LIBRARY

  • Wednesday, Sept. 23, 7 p.m.
  • Upper Tampa Bay Regional Library, 11211 Countryway Blvd., Tampa
  • FREE

Dr. Stewart Nelson will present Sabotage and Re-discovery of the Historic Nautilus Submarine. This illustrated presentation recounts both Sir Hubert Wilkins' 1931 expedition and Dr. Nelson's re-discovery of the historic Nautilus.

In September 2005, Dr. Nelson, an oceanographer, author, lecturer and historian, used a manned submersible to re-discover and document the largely forgotten Nautilus of the Wilkins-Ellsworth Trans Arctic Submarine Expedition of 1931.

This program is cosponsored by the Friends of the Upper Tampa Bay Regional Library. For more information about this and other FREE programs @ your library®, please call (813) 273-3652 or visit hcplc.org.
