FOUR SEASONS AUTHOR SERIES PRESENTS DONALD J. GREEN, AUTHOR OF THIRD PARTY MATTERS: POLITICS, PRESIDENTS AND THIRD PARTIES IN AMERICAN HISTORY

A fascinating and timely topic is on the agenda for the first Four Seasons Authors event of 2011. Entering its second decade, the luncheon/lecture series produced by the Friends of the Library of Tampa-Hillsborough County, Inc. will host Donald J. Green, author of Third Party Matters: Politics, Presidents and Third Parties in American History on Friday, February 4th, 2011 at noon at the University Club, 38th Floor, One Tampa City Center in downtown Tampa.

Mr. Green, who graduated from Bucknell University, followed by a master’s degree in Marketing from Baruch School, City College of New York, made a full career in advertising and then turned to his lifelong interest in American history. After studying at the University of London’s Institute of United States Studies, and the London School of Economics, he returned to America and Tampa where he completed an advanced degree at the University of South Florida. His retirement morphed into yet another career as author and academic. His article in The Historian about the Constitutional Unionists, a third party in the critical election of 1860, led him to an in-depth study of third parties, culminating in the publication of Third Party Matters, which drew an overflow audience at the 2010 Festival of Reading in St. Petersburg. He is also teaching at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa.

The Four Seasons Author Series is presented by the Friends of the Library of Tampa-Hillsborough County, Inc. The subscription series offers four consecutive literary lunches at which guest authors are invited to speak on a variety of subjects, followed by a question and answer period, with a book signing for those who wish to purchase the featured book.

Tickets are $30 for a one time event or a subscription for four consecutive luncheons is $100. Reservations are necessary to attend. To reserve your seat for the luncheon, call the Friends office at (813) 273-3616 by Friday, January 28th, 2011 or email fourseasonsluncheon@gmail.com.
