  • CHANGES AT MOSI: TO MAKE ROOM FOR THE DESIGN AND IDEA ZONE

    Science Library at MOSI, 4801 E. Fowler Ave. in Tampa

    The Science Library at MOSI, a branch of the Hillsborough County Public Library System, will close permanently on April 29.

    The Museum will be turning the space into a Design and Idea Zone exhibition based on the MIT Fab Lab concept and has timed construction of their new exhibit, to be housed in the former library, to begin in early June.

    The Science Library was opened in June of 1995 as a joint museum/public partnership specializing in science materials. The Library also housed a school media collection for the MOSI Partnership School which will be relocated onto the school premises.

    The musical "James and the Giant Peach" tells the story of poor James, seemingly destined to live a miserable, lonely life with his wicked aunts- that is, until a magical day when James spills magic crystals on his aunts’ peach tree. From the tree sprouts a single peach that grows and grows, until it eventually grows so large that James climbs aboard and rolls away from his miserable life and into a fantastical journey with his new friends Grasshopper, Earthworm, Miss Spider, and Centipede. Based on Roald Dahl’s beloved children’s book. Performed by the Tampa Prep Theatre students.

    Want to feel younger? Erin Wheeler, of Lucky Cat Yoga, will help you develop a yoga practice to make you feel great. This class is designed to introduce yoga to adults. Yoga is an activity that can help heal the mind, body, and soul. In this class the basic yoga postures will be covered along with basic pranayama (yogic breathing). The pace of this class is tempered to a moderate rate of effort and ease so that you leave with lots of energy. No yoga experience needed. Classes are 1 hour and require mat/towel and wear athletic clothing/comfortable clothing.
